Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to explore how linguistic politeness was perceived by servers in a restaurant at a country club in the United States. More specifically, using the method of a semi-structured interview, two British and two Croatian servers were asked about their communication with the guests of the restaurants, members of the country club. The material was analyzed qualitatively. The results show the importance of power relations and different identity constructions. Linguistically, on record and bald uses predominated, with use of negative politeness.
