Sažetak
Due to the low manufacturing costs, worm- andgear set with the combination of a steel worm and a plastic gear are used almost exclusively in automotive auxiliary drive units such as window lifters, seat adjustments and windscreen wipers. Worm-and-gear sets are a simple and compact way to achieve a high speed gear ratio. The plastic gear largely limits the load capacity of the transmission. The authors of this study show that the worm-and- gear set with a gear made of sintered steel can provide a cost effective and more viable alternative. This report compares basic technical and economic parameters of worm-and gear set with gear of sintered steel and plastic. These results provide the first important clues for product developers which help to choose the more suitable solution of two transmission variants.
