Sažetak
The blood pressure in newborns depends on gestational age, birtweight and postnatal age. Although the blood pressure could be used as a marker of the circulatory status, in newborns the patophysiologic and clinical considerations on hypotension are not so simple. The blood pressure is not the only determinant of blood flow and tissue perfussion. Very important is the central and local vasoregulation. Newborns with blood pressure lower than expected, without other clinical manifestations of inadequate tissue perfusion, shouldn't be treated to maintain normal blood pressure values. Nevertheless it should be taken into account that shock can occur without hypotension. The basic aspects of the patophysiology, clinical picture and treatment of shock in newborns are rewieved.
