Sažetak
Emergency medicine has great role in saving human lives and reducing further organism's damages. With medical science developing more and more conditions and diseases are curable, but they demand rapid start of the treatment. Problems of rapid patient's transportation in Croatia by classical road transit are numerous. Big jams on road communications, people living on the islands, low population density and inaccessibility of certain regions, special requests regarding tourism, are just some of them. All that results with inadequate approaching time to the site of the accident, inadequate first aid and later on specialized treatment. Unfortunately the consequences are huge, often loosing lives and health. The economical aspects of late first aid are also very important and they are manifesting as an enlargement of the external traffic expenses (medical treatment, rehabilitation, absence from work, etc.). This paper reveals and conceives different, more organized approach and points out to necessity to include the optimal types of the helicopters and its equipment in system of emergency medicine. Namely present system of calling and deciding weather to use military helicopters for emergency is not adequate to the demands, and wastes to much precious time just to make a decision (to approve). Beside, with pretension of Republic of Croatia to join European Union, this system must be organized considering European legislation. Authors are analyzing the insufficiencies of the present state and suggesting variants of the new organization and financing of the calling system that would be completely connected, deciding about usage and performing the flights itself, which would lead to increasing the efficiency of emergency medicine in Croatia.
