Sažetak
The Roma people suffered greatly during the Second World War in many European countries. In some countries their persecution was marked by a racial policy aimed towards the final solution of what many state authorities called the ‘Gypsy Question’ – a term that had been in use for several centuries. In a way, the Second World War can be considered one of the high points of the domicile (European) population’s hostility towards the Roma as the eternal ‘others’ (foreigners). This hostility is usually encompassed by the term antiziganism. The position of Roma in the Croatian lands, especially during the Second World War, can also be observed within this historical context.
