Sažetak
From the Late Barremian to the base of the Late Al-bian, on that part of the carbonate platform that is to-day West Istria, important events have been recogni-zed: faulting, emersion and land phase, erosion and oscillating transgression. By recording the sedimetary environments and defining the stratigraphic parame-ters, it was possible to reconstruct the sequence of events beginning with the Late Batremian ermersion and ending with the re-establishment of the shallow-water sedimentation at the transition Early-Late Albian. Dif ferent paleoenvironmental conditions and frequent changes are rellected in the lack of some lithostratigra-phic units or in their varying thicknesses. Thetefore the total thickness of the Lower Cretaceous deposits in West Istria is up to 30 % reduced compared with other regions of the Karst Dinarides.
