Sažetak
The input of cholesterol into the brain comes almost entirely from in situ synthesis. However, studies have suggested that high cholesterol levels diet leads to altered brain levels of a number of glycerophospholipids, sphingolipids, cholesterol precursors, cholesterol, cholesterol esters and cholesterol oxidation products which indirectly might lead to oxidative stress. In this study we present the comparison of oxidative stress markers (superoxide dismutase, reduced glutathione, catalase, and MDA (malondialdehyde), which is marker of lipid peroxidation) in various brain regions of mice exposed to high cholesterol diet.
