Sažetak
The phase behavior of dodecylammonium chloride (DDACl)and jota-carrageenan (IC) aqueous mixtures was examined by a variety of techniques. The complex interactions between DDACl and IC starting at very low concentration are accompanied by the formation of a variety of single and coexisting phases, differently structured soluble polyelectrolyte-micelle complexes, surfactant micelles, polyelectrolyte-micelle complexes, and solid crystalline and gel phases. The multistep mechanism of DDACl and IC interactions is discussed in terms of successive electrostatic, hydrophobic, and intra- and interpolymer interactions.
