Sažetak
Environmental engineering encompasses a range of more specialized fields of engineering, each with a more specific emphasis on particular areas of technology and types of application. It presents the integration of science (physics, chemistry, geology and biology) and engineering principles to improve the natural environment, to provide healthy water, air, and land for human habitation and for other organisms, and to remediate pollution sites. Protection of the environment is needed due to various human activities. Air pollution, water contamination, soil contamination, waste production, and loss of biodiversity are some of the issues related to environmental protection. In the field of environmental engineering there is a need for an edited collection of articles dealing with current environmental issues. This book provides relevant theoretical framework and the latest empirical research findings in the area. It is written for professionals and researchers who want to improve their understanding of the role of the engineering knowledge application to the improvement and protection of the environment, and develop better approaches when considering a project’s environmental costs, impacts, and conditions throughout a project’s life cycle. Moreover, the book provides knowledge, information and possible solution of major current environmental issues including air pollution control, water pollution, soil contamination, recycling and waste disposal options, renewable resources, earthquake engineering, environmental degradation and environmental impact assessment.
