Sažetak
The purpose of this study was to compare values of Local Diagnostic Reference Levels (LDRLs) of CT examination protocols used in UH Rijeka with European Commission (EC) Diagnostic Reference Dose Levels (DRLs) and to estimate patient effective dose per type of examination. The dosimetric quantities proposed for DRLs in the European Guidelines (EG) for CT are weighted computed tomography dose index (CTDIw) for a single slice and DLP for a complete examination. Patient’s data (weight, height) as well as technical parameters for each type of examination were collected on Siemens Sensation 16 CT scanner installed at Radiology Department, UH Rijeka. Examinations were categorized according to anatomy: brain, chest, abdomen and pelvis. Computed tomography dose index (CTDI) measurements were performed in CTDI phantom to assure readings accuracy. Both values, CTDIw and DLP, for all four examinations were within proposed values given by European Commission. Also, estimations of effective dose to the average patient for every type of CT examination were made. Results confirmed that UH Rijeka meets EC DRLs for all examinations.
