Sažetak
Gifted and talented education supports unique opportunities for high-achieving and underachieving pupils who are identified as gifted and talented. By definition, gifted pupils are pupils who possess a capacity for excellence far beyond that of their chronological peers. But what about the rest of the pupils? We need to pose a question – is not the main purpose of education to help students become their best possible selves, to help each and every one of them develop their potentials and talents through the educational system? Gifted education is definitely needed, but it is also important to pay attention to those who have not already recognized and developed their potential. From a pedagogical perspective, educational researches mostly focus on gifted students, and not so much on those who need teachers' help and guidance, as seen in relevant Croatian pedagogical journals over the last five years. Is the positive orientation to education, which focuses on pupils' potentials and talents, a possible "solution"?
