Sažetak
Psoriasis and lichen planus are papulosquamous, T-cell-mediated inflammatory dermatoses. Granulysin is an antimicrobial and cytolytic peptide expressed in the cytoplasmic granules of activated natural killer (NK) cells and cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs). CTLs and NK cells mediate cytolysis by various mechanisms but mainly by granule exocytosis which triggers cell apoptosis. Until now, there are very few reports regarding the role of granulysin in psoriasis and lichen planus. Immunohistochemistry was conducted in biopsy specimens from lesional and non-lesional skin of patients with psoriasis and cutaneous lichen planus and in skin of healthy controls (10 patients per group). Significant increase of granulysin expression was found in psoriatic and lichen planus lesional skin opposing to both non- lesional and healthy skin. Differences were observed in dermal and epidermal granulysin expression of psoriatic and lichen planus lesional skin. The majority of granulysin-positive cells, in both diseases, were located in the inflammatory infiltrate of upper dermis and they were principally more plentiful in lichen planus dermal compartement. In lichen planus granulysin-positive cells were noticed mainly in basal parts of epidermis, whereas in psoriasis they were present throughout the whole epidermis. Granulysin expression is notably upregulated in the lesional dermis of patients with psoriasis and lichen planus encouraging a substantial role of this cytolytic molecule in the pathogenesis of both diseases.
