Sažetak
Line scales are among the most widely used dimensional measurement equipment with numerous applications ; ranging from simple line scales for fluid level measurement to precise line scales for calibration of high magnification microscopes. Because of their broad application range, they are manufactured in a wide variety of sizes, measurement ranges and precision. Even though line scales can be characterised by the simplicity of their construction, this does not mean that their calibration is also a simple task. If one considers that their size typically ranges from 0, 1 m and 5 m, with accuracies going from 0, 05 mm down to nanometre range, it is clear that design of a measurement system which is able to calibrate all of these types of line scales is not straightforward. We present our approach to this problem, along with some preliminary measurements that demonstrate its potential.
