Sažetak
SUMMARY Auscultatory findings were compared with the date concerning expectoration obtained by the aid of a standardized questionnaire as well as with the sputum volume and consistence in 262 patients with chronic obstructive lung disease ali them having wheezes and/or prolonged expiration. The same tests were done on 92 healthy persons with no pathological 'auscultatory findings. The patients with auscultatory findings of wheezes and/or prolonged expiration expectorated significantly larger volume of sputum than the persons without pathological signs above the lungs. The patients with the finding of wheezes and prolonged expiration produced more sputum than the subjects with only prolonged expiration. In patients with prolonged expiration, expectorated sputum was mostly mucoid and mucopurulent and in subjects with wheezes the sputum was mostly mucopurulent and purulent but no statisticaly significant difference could be proved. Chronic cxpectoration was more frequent symptom in patients having a pathological auscultatory finding than in subjects with normal finding. It was also more frequent in patients with wheezes than in patients with prolonged expiration. The authors conclude that in patients with chronic obstructive lung disease a correlation between the degree of bronchial hypersecretion and auscultatorv phenomena. especially wheezes, can be proved.
