Sažetak
The main purpose of this work was to compare changes in the fatty acid composition of lipids induced by n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), especially from corn oil, and oleic acid (MUFA), from olive oil in polar lipids in certain tissues (liver, spleen, submandibular gland and lung). Three groups of male Balb/C mice were fed for three weeks with diets containing 5% (w/w) corn oil (FCO), 5% (w/w) olive oil (FOO) and control. Balb/C mice were sacrificed and organs (liver, spleen, submandibular gland and lung) were collected. Total lipids were extracted according to Folch et al., and polar lipids were separated and purified by solid-phase extraction and analysed in form of the fatty acid methyl esters by gas chromatographic analysis. The results are shown as mean a standard deviation. Differences among groups were tested by nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U-test (p ƒŹ 0.05). Palmitic (16:0) and stearic (18:0) fatty acids were major saturates in all polar lipids in the studied tissues. The highest content of palmitic acid was in the lung, and stearic acid was the highest in the liver tissue samples. Oleic acid (C18:1n-9) was the major monounsaturated acid in all tissue polar lipids varying from 7.35% (liver) up to 17.50% (submandibular gland) which depended on enriched diets. Arachidonic acid (20:4n-6) was the major polyunsaturated acid in the spleen and submandibular gland tissue samples, but docosahexaenoic acid (22:6n-3) was major polyunsaturated acid in the lung and liver tissue samples. Similar to total lipids, phospholipids were fatty acids affected by the type of dietary oils in each of examined tissues. The increase in C18:1n-9 content and decrease in C18:2n-6 in all examined tissues resulted from olive oil induced diet. The ratio in C22:6n-3/C20:4n-6 differed between tissues with the liver having the highest ratio value and the spleen the lowest one. The ratio was increased in the submandibular gland, by dietary corn oil, in the spleen and lung by olive oil and decreased in the liver due to the enriched oils. It is to conclude that the dietary enriched oils, type PUFA and MUFA affected the fatty acid composition in the total phospholipids of the examined tissues.
