Sažetak
The aim of present study was to evaluate the presence of Yersinia enterocolitica in wild boar tonsils from selected hunting area in Croatia. During January-February 2015 total of 48 hunted wild boars tonsils were swabbed and tested for Y. enterocolitica by standard ISO 10273:2003 method. Identification was performed with API 20E system. Yersinia enterocolitica was recovered from 6 tonsils. Cold storage of cultured enrichment broths revealed in 5 additional positive samples. This preliminary survey shows a relatively high prevalence (22.92%) of Y. enterocolitica in wild boar tonsils and consequently potential risk for meat handlers and consumers.
