Sažetak
The paper explores the modalities of political participation practiced by Croatian-Slavonian nobility in the 18th century and analyses the conditions under which the nobility adapted to the new requirements of vertical mobility. The emphasis is on the middle and lower nobility: they made up more than 90% of the Croatian- Slavonian nobility, they were oriented to local politics, and they were forced to adapt their strategies in communication with the places of influence at the Court of Vienna.
