Sažetak
In the past 20 years, Croatia has experienced an intensive development of its transport infrastructure. In the past two years, investment in road infrastructure has stagnated, whereas railway infrastructure has been assuming an increasingly important role. For the next cycle of investment in period from 2014 to 2020, the largest proportion of investments, according to the decision by the Croatian Government, will go into the construction and modernization of railway infrastructure. However, for any modernisation to be successful, it must be closely linked with research and development performed by the scientific community. The Department of Transportation Engineering has been actively involved in all such projects, not only in the process of their creation, but also in the application of innovative solutions and technologies. This paper presents several successful environmental and innovative products that the Department of Transportation Engineering, in cooperation with its partners, has applied successfully in regular engineering practice.
