Sažetak
Although the Serbian-Croatian-Slovenian unification was carried out in 1918, boundaries of administrative units during the existence of the Kingdom of SCS/Yugoslavia (1918-1941) manifested much controversy. Determining the boundaries of administrative units was in the hands of political and state leadership and laws that they have brought have often represented long-term political aspirations of various regimes, usually in the direction of centralization and state unitarianism. This interfered with the efforts of some political options to transform highest local governments to autonomous national units within the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Using the example of the border between the Sava and Drava banovina, which were determined at the time of strongest Yugoslav national and state integration, we'll see which were the principles used in determining borders between banovinas as the largest local administrative units in the country. The Sixth of January Dictatorship regime emphasized that the boundaries of the nine banovinas were set by natural, transportation and economic keys, but we can claim that in many instances one of their main purposes was to negate the historical and national concepts. Although the boundary between the Drava and Sava Banovina was not as controversial as some other borders of the banovinas, we can identify some key points that have provoked controversy on that line. This paper will emphasize political-legal aspects of the creation of borders and historical effects of the creation of borders between Drava and Sava banovina.
