Sažetak
‘Lovranska’ and ‘Creska’ are autochthonous varieties of sweet cherry traditionally produced in the region of Lovran and on the island of Cres, in the county of Primorsko-goranska, Croatia. These varieties are known as high quality fruits, with good aroma and size. Both varieties are preferred by farmers due to the high price and high income they generate. They are also preferred by consumers and, due to their uniqueness and autochthony, they have the potential to be marketed to tourists at the beginning of the tourism season. We compared ‘Lovranska’ sweet cherry on Colt rootstock in two successive years with ‘Hedelfingen’, ‘Lambert’, ‘Lapins’ and ‘Katalin’. We also compared ‘Creska’ sweet cherry on P. mahaleb rootstock with ‘Bing’, ‘Stella’ and ‘Sue’. Our results show that both varieties have good potential for production, and are at least as good as standard cultivars.
