Sažetak
Through recent decades, fluoride caused the uncertainty between dentists and toxicologists due to its favourable caries preventive effects and deleterious effects at high concentrations in humans suffering from fluorosis. The purpose of this article is to present review and practical findings that focus on caries preventive fluoride preparations with respect to potential toxicological implications. This article presents an overview of the current research on the toxicology of fluoride exposure with emphasis on fluoride preparations for oral hygiene intended for home use - self administer use. The goal of this article is to enhance necessarity of understanding of the dose of fluoride in preparations for oral hygiene which may affect physiological processes in humans.
