Sažetak
Recent design of engineering structures is based on high-capacity computer calculations and known experimental data related to behaviour of considered structure. Following that approach, two types of austenitic stainless steels were investigated and this paper presents some of experimentally obtained material properties as well as numerical simulation of crack driving force for both of considered steels. In this sense, presented data are related to ultimate tensile strength, yield strength and modulus of elasticity and that for room and selected elevated temperatures. Also, a comparison of material creep responses for selected temperatures as well as for selected stress levels is presented. A numerical procedure using J-integral as a measure of crack driving force is performed. Obtained J values are plotted versus specimen crack growth size (Δa) for different specimen geometries (a/W) and for different specimen types. Although this procedure is not experimental one, results can be useful as fracture parameter in fracture toughness assessment.
