Sažetak
Necrotising enterocolitis ( NEC) is a disease primary affecting preterm neonates, characterized by mucosal or deeper intestinal necrosis. Mortality associated with NEC ranges between 10-50%, with highest rate among infants requiring surgery. Surgical interventions is needed in less then 25% of infants. Absolute indications are intestinal perforation, signs of peritonitis or aspiration of purulent material from the peritoneal cavity by paracentesis. Surgery should be considered for an infant with NEC whose clinical and laboratory condition worsens despite nonsurgical support. In past eleven years we surgicaly treated 80 patients with NEC. Patients were born between 24th and 41st week of gestation, weighting from 750 to 4450grams. We present indications for operations, type of operation, complications and mortality in our patients.
