Sažetak
As it was in other countries under the communist regimes, in Yugoslavia (and Croatia) the special institution devoted to the research of the history of Labour Movement, Communist Party and Second World War existed after the WWII (Communist Party historiography). Those elements of history played the crucial role for the legitimisation of the post-war communist régime, so the right of giving the final interpretations and judgements the leaders of the Communist Party openly reserved for themselves. Political relations between the Communist Parties of the countries of the Eastern Bloc and the KPJ (Communist Party of Yugoslavia)/SKJ (League of Communists of Yugoslavia) resulted in tensions between the representatives of Communist Party historiographies on both sides. Representatives of the party historiographies of Yugoslavia behaved very critically towards the method of research and writing about the history of the parties in the Eastern Bloc. Soviet, and then other party historians classified Yugoslav communists as revisionists. From one side this resulted in the distrust in interrelations, even at the time of improving political relations, and the endeavour that they monitor what the opposite side do. A sample analysis of party historiography in the Eastern Bloc is the report by Ljubiša Stankov from 1959 which is a very interesting historical source for that topic. Although, the position of Yugoslavia toward the Eastern Bloc was special after 1948th, comparing the basic determinants of Communist Party historiography in Croatia and Yugoslavia within the wider picture of Communist Party historiographies in the countries of the Eastern Bloc, it is possible to define many similarities in their functioning.
