Sažetak
The penetration level of renewable energy systems (RES), especially wind power plants, into the power system over the world has been increasing very fast in the last few years and is still keeping the fast growth rate. It is just a matter of time that the RES will be comparable to the conventional power generation. The predictability of power sources (location and levels of power injections) decreases when a significant amount of variable power generation is connected to the system. Transmission system operators must then be more able to handle sudden drops or rises in electricity network injection, which were not foreseen in their usual way of managing electricity systems. Moreover, large wind power plants production sites may be very often located far away from electricity consumption sites. This presentation discusses the integration of RES and theirs impact on the electric power system. The grid codes technical requirements and connection application procedures for the integration of RES into an electric power network in E&I countries are also described. The emphasis is on ancillary services (pricing, market features for most SEE countries, possibility of RES to find the application and additional income, etc.). It is pointed on the facts ; that an ancillary service around the SEE region is not satisfactory and the lack of the reserves is underestimated. Data of World total installed capacity, regional wind potential, regional solar energy potential and regional biomass potential are also presented. At the end some measures and recommendations which help the large scale penetration of renewable energy sources with variable generation in the regional electric power systems are proposed.
