Sažetak
Background Community Health Course is a part of Curriculum at Un iversity of Zagreb School of medicine since 1952. One of obligatory activities on The Course is health education of school children. The practical of the Course has been he ld in rural areas of Požega County from year 1999 in cooperation with local primary health care health professionals. The aim of this study was to present students satisfaction with health promotion activities performed in small schools in rural area. Material and methods Požega County has 1383 (out of total 27 042) pupils di spersed in 20 dislocated schools in small villages. Medical students learn how to teach and develop communication skills by performing health promotion activities in local schoo ls with support and supervision of local primary health care workers. One of the routinel y taught lectures is a “Puberty” . Results After presentation, students are asked to fulfill eval uation questionnaire using grades from “1-bad” to “5-excellent.” The evaluation of 224 st udent’s right after the course 2008 and 192 of the same generation 2 years later showed that health education of elementary school children is among the best evaluated activities, with average grades of 4.85 (2008) and 4.36 (2010). Conclusion All activities performed during the course are commonly eva luated with the best notes and recognized as very valuable part of curriculum: "...it was interesting, educational, funny experience. Le cture in elementary school strengthen our confidence to lecture... " – student, 200 7. “It was the most beautiful moment of the course. I f elt I really made it - to transfer a part of my knowledge and experience to the younger populatio n..” – student, 2010. “By taking the lecture I have learned a new way of comm unication and understood real meaning of preventing measures in health care.” – stude nt, 2010.
