Sažetak
Despite of wide frequency range, the EM spectrum is biologically active on the whole, eventhough the mechanisms underlying the interaction with the living matter differ inbetween various bands. When it comes to the nonionizing part of EM spectrum, consequent and uniform dosimetric concept, uniform health surveillace protocol of the exposed population categories as well as accurately established biomarkers of exposure and bioindicators of exposure health effects, are lacking. This study is aimed at providing scientific basis for accurate and reasonable exposure and health risk assessment in cases of nonionizing radiation exposures as well as at improving the specific knowledge, methodology and equipment used in exposure assessment and health risk assessment to ionizing irradiation.Major steps within the study framework are: systemic physical measurements of the relevant radiation sources, recognition and classification of the exposed population groups and groups at risk, and clarification of ethiopathogenetic mechanisms underlying radiation events by using an animal model basic research protocol.
