Sažetak
Understanding and describing biological forms is indispensable for product design and can contribute to a better development of functional and comfortable products in the field of textile and footwear industry. Statistical methods influence the interpretation and formulation of a description of complex biological shapes. The modern morphometric toolkit was used to study the variation of human foot morphology in a sample of one hundred twenty nine young females. The 3D foot models of right and left feet were collected using a three-dimensional surface foot scanner. The scope of the investigation was to capture variability in foot morphology, to analyze foot asymmetry and study how the frequent use of high heels changes foot morphology in a sample of young females. The findings of the research demonstrate that foot shape is affected by lifestyle factors and geometric morphometrics allows a powerful exploratory study in various disciplines, including orthopedics and footwear design.
