Sažetak
Primula veris L. subsp. columnae (Ten.) Lüdi is a widespread plant in the mountainous areas of Asia and Europe. Types and distribution of trichomes and chemical composition of the essential oil were investigated in P. veris L. subsp. columnae (Primulaceae) growing in Tijarica near Split, Croatia. Non-glandular trichomes, peltate (one basal epidermal cell, one short stalk cell and a large head cell with a subcuticular space filled with essential oil) and capitate trichomes (one basal epidermal cell, two elongated stalk cells and a smaller, unicellular, rounded head cell) were observed on leaf, using light microscopy. It is known composition of some secondary metabolites isolated from roots and flowers of Primula genus and their healing properties. We analyzed the composition of the essential oil of stems and leaves of P. veris species. Water distilled essential oils from aerial parts of investigation plant have been analysed by GC and GC/MS using VF-5ms capillary column. The total yield of oil was 0.03%, based on dry weight of samples. Twenty eight compounds representing 87.7% of the total oil of P. veris. This essential oil was characterized by a high concentration of pentacosane (42.9%), methyl 4-methoxysalicylate (17.2%) and benzoic acid, 2 hydroxy methyl ester (6.7%). The present study gives additional knowledge about micromorphological traits and secondary metabolites contents on the genus Primula.
