Sažetak
Temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) represents disorders affecting temporomandibular joints and masticatory muscles. The aim of this study was to determine were there any significant differences in contribution of muscular myoelectrical activity between boundary and maximal eccentric positions of the mandible in healthy population as well as in patients with temporomandibular dysfunction. In this study 27 healthy subjects and 20 TMD patients were investigated. Surface EMG recordings were obtained from left and right anterior temporal muscles, left and right masseter muscles and from left and right digastric muscles. The Wilcoxon matched pair test for dependent samples was used to determine possible differences between myographic activity of each muscle in boundary and maximal eccentric position of the mandible. Healthy controls' results showed that there were statistically significant differences between mandibular boundary and maximal eccentric positions, while in the group of patients no such differences were found.
