Sažetak
We made retrospective analysis of 100 patients consecutively admitted to the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine with the diagnosis of stroke during the years 2001 and 2002. The evaluation of functionality of every patient involved into the study was made by means of a modified Barthel protocol. The functional recovery after the stroke measured by Barthel index at discharge (BID) was 62.13, with Barthel index difference (BIdiff) 18.6 and with Barthel index efficiency (BIeff) 1.6, on average. The patients who have achieved a good functional recovery have been making progress by Barthel protocol 2.2 points a day on average, while the other patients have made progress of 1.1 points. Within the group of examinees with a low Barthel index at admission (BIA) only 6.82 percent has achieved a satisfactory recovery. Among the patients with a moderate BIA, those younger than 65 have achieved a satisfactory functional recovery in 81.82 percent of cases. The patients with clinically manifested risk factors had BIeff of 1.52, whereas with patients without any risk factor this index was 3.13 on average.
