Sažetak
The paper offers a textual analysis of a sample of headlines published on the front pages of Večernji list in two socioculturally different periods, 1988, a year of late socialism and 2000, ten years after the transition processes started. The goal of the paper is to trace down and analyze the shifts observed within a particular discourse type and relate them to wider changes within society. The methodological procedure is conceived as including two levels of analysis, linguistic and intertextual, drawn from the framework of Critical Discourse Analysis, as designed by the British linguist Norman Fairclough and complemented with 'social semiotics' of the British linguists Gunther Kress and Theo van Leeuwen.
