Sažetak
The reproductive status of 35 German shepherd bitches was determinated using anamnestic and clinical data and by comparing with progesterone serum concentrations measured by quantitative enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) Serozyme Progesterone Test. Progesterone concentration was below 0, 1 ng/ml at the onset of proestrus, which was raised during estrus and averaged 3.8 ng/ml. In metestrus it ranged from 6.8 ng/ml to 44 ng/ml or, on average, 18.0 ng/ml in lactation and anestus it measured >0.1 ng/ml. In 3 bitches, established progesterone levels were at variance with anamnestic and clinical findings. According to the obtained results of progesterone serum concentrations we were able to exactly determine the reproductive status of those bitches and their further use for reproductive purposes.
