Sažetak
Glass is by nature a meta-stable solid and tends to achieve the equilibrium by crystallization. Binary iron phosphate glass with composition 40Fe2O3-60P2O5 (mol%) and Fe2+/Fetotal ratio of ~0.2 was crystallized at various temperatures for 24 h. Present structure study, performed by XRD and Raman spectroscopy, revealed systematic formation of various crystalline phases, embedded in glass matrix. The aim of this work is the investigation of the influence of controlled crystallization on magnetic interactions in binary iron phosphate glass. This type of glass exhibits the spin-glass behaviour and represents a prototype glass with disordered spatially distributed magnetic moments. Investigation of magnetic nature for as-prepared glass and glass-ceramics was conducted by means of vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Dominant antiferromagnetic interactions, demonstrated by the characteristic cusps in the susceptibilities at low temperature and the negative values of the paramagnetic temperatures, were confirmed for all samples. The temperature dependence of the magnetization showed various magnetic transitions and deviation from Curie-Weiss law at low temperatures. Magnetic interactions involving iron ions depend on the various crystalline phases and their amounts present in glass-ceramics. Obtained results represent novel view on the correlation between structure and magnetic behavior in partially crystallized iron phosphate glass
