Sažetak
Carotid endarterectomy is a standard therapy for symptomatic high-degree internal carotid artery stenosis. The aim is to present potential intimal lesions after carotid endarterectomy. These lesions could be presented as intimal flaps, intimal steps or dissections with/without occlusion or stenosis of the artery. The most common causes for these intinal lesions are shunting and prolongation of the clamping time. Routine carotid ultrasound follow-up exams are often necessary because of a potential change of antithrombotic therapy or to perform endovascular treatment.
