Sažetak
Groundwater monitoring in selected locations is conducted in order to facilitate conclusions, on the basis of recorded data, about the fluctuation dynamics of groundwater levels in the greater influence area and the manner in which the karst aquifer functions. During this process, it frequently happens that insufficient attention is paid to the inhomogeneity of karst structures and very different groundwater reactions to external changes, even in locations which are in very close proximity to each other. The paper presents monitoring results for fluctuations of groundwater levels at 8 piezometers in the Savudrija area, the northernmost edge of the Istrian peninsula. The piezometers were located in a mild depression, within the area of only about 0.8 km2 at a distance from the sea from 0.6 to 1.4 km. Monitoring covered the relative period from March 2012 to September 2013, in which very different hydrological conditions were recorded, ranging from extreme draught which lasted until the start of autumn 2012, and was followed by an intense wet period. The paper presents the results of conducted processing of interrelation between the fluctuations of groundwater levels and their temperatures at the mentioned piezometers, and also the interrelations between these fluctuations and the fluctuations of the sea levels and precipitation that occurred. It was determined that in such a small area, where similarities of fluctuation dynamics of groundwater levels in relation to occurred precipitation were generally quite evident, there were still significant variations regarding interrelations of groundwater levels in individual locations, some even in very close proximity. These interrelations are influenced by both hydrological conditions and hydrogeological characteristics of individual parts of the aquifer, and also by the hydraulic connection to the sea. The results of groundwater temperature monitoring indicate very quick reactions to occurred precipitation as well as very different interrelations during the shift between wet and dry periods, and also provide additional information about functioning of the analysed karst aquifer.
