Sažetak
Mannich condensation is amongst the most commonly used synthetic procedures in functionalizing resorcinarenes at the position 2 in the aromatic ring. A nice example of Mannich condensation is the connection of pairs of adjacent and opposite oxazine rings on a single resorcinarene unit by aliphatic arms into single- and double-handled resorcinarene baskets. The Mannich condensation has been employed under high dilution conditions to covalently connect two resorcinarenes into a covalent dimer via four flexible ethylene diamine spacers acting as the connecting bridges with yields of up to 15 %. Similarly, the rigid piperazine was used to covalently connect the two resorcinarene units with yields of upto 40%. The tetrabenzoxazines can be easily converted to N-alkylammonium resorcinarene halides by refluxing in the presence of concentrated HCl or HBr in n-butanol. The reports of pseudorotaxane formation between secondary dialkylammonium ions threading through the cavity of benzo-21-crown-7 and dibenzo-24-crown-8 led us to probe the similar behavior with our salts from weakly bound anions. The self-assembling properties to dimeric capsular-like structures as well the formation of pseudo-rotaxanes between the Nalkylresorcinarene salts with crown ethers will be presented.
