Sažetak
One hundred years after the beginning of the four- year global politically and military conflict in many European historiographies it is evident lack of research on this subject of position of the Roma minority population. A similar situation applies to the Croatian historiography, where it is completely neglected and in a certain way, "shadowed" with the suffering of the Roma during the Second World War. Roma population who lived on the Croatian territory during the First World War was affected by war and other events as the rest of the population. One part of the Roma population was in First World War mobilized, while the others tried to maintain a nomadic way of life and to avoid participation in the war. This paper will be based on an analysis of archival and other relevant sources and literature with the aim to analyze the relationship between the state (especially the military) and local authorities against Roma population in Croatia. In this paper will try to describe the everyday life of the Roma population and how the war troubles reflect on their lives. Also, it will be compared position of Roma in Croatia with other countries in Austria - Hungary and in some other European countries and tried to determine the social and economic consequences for the Roma population in Croatia after this War.
