Sažetak
In order to achieve healthier meat and meat derivates it is necessary to avoid antibiotics growth promotors in food for animals for consumption. Natural animal feed supplement, Agaricus bisporus improved feed conversion and animal growth and reduced morbidity and mortality due to clinical and subclinical diseases. The objective of this study was to verify the presence of oxidative enzymes in quadriceps femoris muscle, sheep breed Lika Pramenka and to evaluate the effect of supplement from button mushroom Agaricus bisporus on histochemical and morphological characteristics of muscles. One-year-old sheep, breed Lika Pramenka were used in this experiment. The dietary groups were controled, one group feed by basal diet and the other group with diets containing 1.5% dry supplement of Agaricus bisporus, during the 6 weeks of winter feeding period. Upon completion of the experiment, muscle tissues were obtained from quadriceps femoris muscle. The sectiones were stained histochemically for oxidative enzymes: succinate dehydrogenase (SDH), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and NADPH- diaphorases. Myofiber size and frequency were determined. During the experiment, experimental group of animals showed significant increase in fiber cross-sectional diameter of muscle fiber accompanied by a significant weight gain.. Results of this research indicated growth promoters effects of Agaricus bisporus, based on increased activity of oxidative enzymes which results with pronounce cell metabolism and increasing muscle mass.
