Sažetak
PHO was first described in 1836 by Konig. Eighty to ninghty per cent of patients with PHO are males between 30 and 60 years of age. There are no data available on how this disease affects the hip. We examined skeletal abnormalities, including hips in 52 patients with PHO. For this purpose we used X-ray technic and scintigraphy. Our examination revealed aseptic necrosis of the femoral head (ANFH) in four and osteoarthritis in five patients. All of the paients had typical skin and X-ray skeletal changes and clubbing fingers since childhood or puberty. ANFH was bilateral. aloarthroplasty inn both hips and build-in endoprothesis were needed. Osteoarthrosis is characterized by osteophytes, joint space narrowing and femoral head osteosclerosis in all five patients. Mechanism of these changes is unclear. These data, i.e. high prevalence (ANFH) indicates that it is narrowly bonded to PHO.
