Sažetak
Hydrogen South Africa (HySA) is a long-term (15-year) national program launched in September 2008 by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) in South Africa, having on aim development of hydrogen and fuel cell (HFC) technologies, materials and systems. The HySA Systems Integration & Technology Validation Competence Centre (HySA Systems) hosted by the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and located at the South African Institute for Advanced Materials Chemistry (SAIAMC) is one of three national Competence Centres that were initiated by the DST HFCT Flagship Project. The main and core objectives with HySA Systems are: (i) to perform technology validation and system integration and (ii) to develop HFC systems and prototypes. The presented paper contains description of a research and development works realized at HySA Systems in the frame of Key Programme 3 - Hydrogen Fuelled Vehicles (HFV). The developed Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Vehicle (HFCV) prototypes, as light passenger vehicles (incl. 2, 3 and 4-wheelers) and utility vehicles (forklift) are described. The description of a Hybrid Fuel Cell Vehicle (HFCV) Testing and Validation Station is included. The setup enables testing of a drive trains of hybrid (Fuel Cell/Battery, Fuel Cell/Supercapacitor) electric vehicles (HEV) and electric vehicles (EV) as well as components of the drive trains separately.
