Sažetak
Under the CARD2004 programme, the University of the West of England is tasked with providing assistance to the Polytechnic of Karlovac and Technical school of Karlovac in their delivery of Mechatronics know how. The proposed aim of this collaborative project is the creation of Karlovac Mechatronics Centre of Excellence. The centre's objectives will be to provide high quality Training, Teaching, Research and Consultancy in the field of Mechatronics. A critical aspect of this programme is its focus on applied nature of Mechatronics. There is a need to establish the current status in respect of those four areas in the Karlovac Region. Further, the future requirements in terms of those four areas must be identified. Acquiring the necessary information will be carried out with the relevant organisations via interviews, visits, discussions, meetings etc. A more structured technique of 'survey' will, however, form a significant contributor to this knowledge base. To determine the Mechatronic related needs of industry in the Karlovac County in the short, medium and long term in the context of the following: ~ The educational needs of current and future employees ; ~ The research and development needs of the company.
