Sažetak
Aim: To compare numerically the bending mechanical behavior of three endodontic nickel titanium (Ni–Ti) instruments with equivalent size and various designs for tapers, pitch, and cutting blades. Methodology: Three instruments with different cross sectional geometries and an average taper around 8%-6% were analyzed by using finite element method. The geometries of the instruments, ProTaper F2 (25/0.08), ProTaper Next X2 (25/0.06) and Reciproc R25 (25/0.08) were generated by using SolidWorks (Figure 1). All three instruments have the same tip diameter of 0.25mm. Mechanical properties of the superelastic Ni–Ti and of M–wire were associated to the models of analyzed samples. One of the most representative clinical loading, bending, was considered in this study. The bending loads were generated by tip deflection of each instrument imposing an displacement of 4 mm in the cross-section plane. The results obtained under these conditions for the considered instruments were compared against each other. Results: The lowest level of bending stress was obtained for Reciproc R25. ProTaper F2 showed greater bending stress in comparison to ProTaper Next X2. Conclusions: Ni-Ti endodontic instruments, investigated in the present study, have different bending mechanical behavior because of different mechanical properties and cross sections for each instruments.
