Sažetak
Octahedral V(V) in di-oxo form cis-VO2+ efficiently binds hydroxamic acids in acidic media.(ref). Reaction proceeds in a two steps. The first one is complexation reaction where hydroxamic acid as bidentate ligand forms 5-member ring with V(V) while the second one is redox reaction where vanadyl ion (VO2+) is formed (eq. 1). Hydroxamic acids are week organic acids which releases one H+ ion per group during the complexation. In reactions with two investigated hydroxamic acids (Hydroxyurea and Acetohydroxamic acid) we observed unusual increase of complex stability in acidic media which is opposite to complexes with other metals like Fe(III) or Cu(II) where acidity decreases stability of complexes.
