Sažetak
From April 1, 1992 to March 31, 1993, 4260 gastroscopies with 370 biopsies were performed in the Dubrava University Hospital, of which 47 malignant gastric tumors were diagnosed. Malignant tumors are statistically more common in males predorninantly within the age range of 51-70 years. The most frequent type of tumor is adenocarcinoma. Malignant tumors rarely appear in the cardiac region, whereas in other parts of the stomach their incidence is equally spread. The patients were treated strictly surgically, and the most frequent method was Billroth 11 two-third gastric resection with anastomosis. Radical operations were performed more often than palliative ones. The survival of patients depended on the tumor stage, not on the type of operative procedure. Good therapeutic results were obtained only in T2N0M0 tumors.
