Sažetak
Creatine kinase (CK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) are two main enzymes in the serum of pigs which can be markedly increased as a result skeletal or heart muscle damage. In this study the effect of physical exercise on serum enzymes activity and their origin were investigated. The study was conducted on a total of 25 commercial fattened pigs of 6 mounts of age and 105-110 kg of live weight. Pigs were exposure to physical exercise during forced transport procedure (loading, transport and unloading) which lasted about 2 hours. Blood samples were collected immediately prior the loading and after unloading and total serum enzymes activity of creatine kinase (CK), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and their isoenzymes (CKMB, LDH1-5) were analyzed. Physical exercise caused significantly increase in CK and LDH activity (P<0.05) in serum of pig. The 30% increase in total CK and 20% increase in CKMB activity were observed. In addition, 10% increase in total LDH activity comes as a result of increased activity of LDH5 fraction (20%) originates from skeletal muscle tissue, while changes in activity of other LDH isoenzymes (LDH1-4) were much smaller or nonexistent (<5%). On the basis of these results we could conclude that physical exercise caused markedly increase in serum CK and LDH activity as a result of their release from muscle cells.
