Sažetak
In my presentation I discussed the problem of qualitative and quantitative interpretations of nature. The late 16th century was a turbulent time when the most prominent thinkers felt a deep dissatisfaction with the (Aristotelian) qualitative interpretation of the nature but were not yet sure what would be an alternative. It was Galileo who finally proposed a quantitative understanding of the nature.
