Sažetak
The image and the topography of the Pannonian early Christian communities has been derived from data about bishops, the leaders of these communities and the archaeological data. Sites with elements that suggest presence of Christians in the late antiquity in the continental part of Croatia, that have been established so far, make just an insignificant part of a much higher number of already known sites for which there are reliable indications of the Early Christian character. The text seeks to explicate the history and the topography of Roman Christian communities in a single geographically limited region, the continental section of Croatia (Croatian part of the Roman province Pannonia). The early Christian communities had a complicated hierarchical structure that developed gradually, so that data about individual functions illustrate the degree of organizational formation in certain communities. On the basis of analyses of more extensive sources about persecutions, the legends of the martyrs, in conclusion of this discussion of the beginnings of the creation of character of the first early Christian communities in Pannonia as a whole, and hence, in Croatia. List taken from literary sources (Passio of the Four Crowned, Passio of of St Synerotas, Passio of St Pollio, Passio of Quirinus et c.) represent the basis for the study of Pannonian Christian communities in the 4th, 5th and 6th centuries.
