Sažetak
The Jews which settled in Croatia, mostly coming from the neighbouring Hungarian counties (Sopron, Vas, Zala, Somogy, Baranya and Moson) and to a lesser extent from the Czech Republic, Austria, Moravia, and distant Galicia. When the mid-19th century Hungarian Jewry was a split between the Reformed (Neolog) and Orthodox Judaism in Croatia have already prevailed Reformed. At the time when they started publishing humorous and satirical Papers in Croatia, there were very few Orthodox Jewish congregations, as well as Galician Jews ; however, we find them as the subject of ridicule. A comparison of satirical papers that are published of the nineties of the 19th century in Croatia in the lecture will discuss about cartoons and jokes of Galician Jews. The analysis showed that Croatian humorous and satirical papers often copied known humorous – satirical papers, Berlin Fliegende Blätter and British Punch and images of Galician Jews is not a reflection of Croatian reality.
