Napomena
The Franciscans, as the spiritual fathers of the majority of Catholics, and frequently the most educated persons in their areas, founded and took care of many societies in Herzegovina. The scope of work of these societies was reflected in the special needs of the environment. Some of them, e.g. Croatian peasants' cooperative for credits and loans, Economic concord, The Association of tobacco-growers, were dealing with economic and agricultural issues. The others, however, as Croatian national association, in which the Franciscans actively participated, were politically oriented, whereas the third ones, as Croatian music, Hrvoje, St Cecily covered the scope of culture, and finally some of them covered miscellanous activities, e.g. Croatian supporting society Napredak.
